The New Jersey/New York Regional Colavita Racing Team was the original team which in 2000, founded the amateur bike racing club known throughout the United States as Colavita Racing, Inc., a USA Cycling sanctioned club which now houses 15 racing and recreational teams throughout the country.

The founding NJ/NY Team has developed numerous world-class cyclists and has had as members well known sprinter, Juan Jose Haedo, a current member of the UCI ProTour Team now known as Saxo Bank, as well as Sebastian Alexandre and Gustavo Artacho, former members of the U.S. Domestic Pro Team Colavita/Sutter Home, and Carter Jones, current member of the U.S. National Team and UCI Continental Team, Trek-Livestrong.

The NJ/NY Team has had numerous State Champions within its ranks and is considered one of the top amateur teams in the country. Most recently, the Team's Masters 55+ squad won the prestigious, season-long NJBA Garden State Cup. Several members have won individual NJBA Garden State Cup trophies in the Masters 35+ and 55+ categories. The Team also focuses greatly on State and regional cyclocross competitions.
